The Fort Saskatchewan Wellness Hub for Youth (aka The Bridge)- Kickstand Fort Saskatchewan is a wellness hub for all youth between the ages of 11 - 24 years old. The Bridge provides various health and wellness services for youth including counseling and support groups/programs.
We are an open and inclusive space for all youth to access whether they are utilizing support services or simply coming to hang out.

Mission: Our mission at The Bridge Wellness Hub for Youth is to foster a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment where youth can thrive. We aim to promote holistic well-being through accessible programs, resources, community engagement, encouraging and empowering every young person to grow into their best selves and lead a healthy, balanced life.
Position Type: Term Part-Time (0.8 FTE) – 32 hrs week – until December 31, 2026
Reports to: Team Lead + Executive Director

Position Overview:
The Mentor will provide guidance, support, and training to help young people improve their job readiness and secure meaningful volunteer opportunities and or employment.
This role will also connect with Community Organizations and Businesses to help the Youth find opportunities for Volunteer and/or Employment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentorship and Guidance:
• Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions focused on career exploration, resume building, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
• Develop individualized action plans to address the unique needs and goals of each participant.
• Offer ongoing support and follow-up to ensure continuous progress and adjustment of plans as needed.
Skill Development:
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions on employability skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and professionalism.
• Assist youth in developing soft skills essential for workplace success, including adaptability, resilience, and emotional intelligence.
• Coaching Youth through the steps to find and sustain employment.
Resource Coordination:
• Connect participants with relevant resources and opportunities, such as internships, apprenticeships, job fairs, and educational programs.
• Collaborate with local businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations to create pathways for employment.
Program Administration:
• Maintain accurate records of participant progress and outcomes.
• Contribute to program evaluation and improvement by providing feedback and insights based on experiences with participants.
• Assist in outreach and recruitment efforts to engage more youth in the program.
Advocacy and Support:
• Advocate for the needs and aspirations of youth within the community and among partners.
• Provide support in navigating challenges related to mental health, physical well-being, and socio-economic barriers.
Program Facilitation and Support:
• Managing The Bridge independently on occasional nights when required.
• Pick up items from the food bank and coordinate supplies.
• Pick up groceries for the hub, and schedule snacks and supper for the week.
• Support scheduled program activities with assistance from practicum students.
• Support program activities with Navigator.
• Administrative and office activities.
• Food preparation.
• Housekeeping activities.
• Resolve conflict situations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Previous experience working with youth (ages 11-24), including neurodiverse youth and those with mental health needs.
• ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) certification is considered an asset.
• Experience with or training in Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) is an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to manage and assess risks effectively.

• Understanding of Employability Skills: Maintain a strong understanding of employability skills and current trends in workforce development, which is crucial for providing relevant and practical guidance to the youth.
• Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Utilize superb interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with diverse youth populations and foster a supportive and inclusive environment.
• Organizational Skills: Employ strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently, ensuring effective program delivery and administration.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Familiarity with digital tools for remote mentoring and training is also required to effectively perform duties in various settings.
ADDITIONAL ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel within Alberta as required by the role.
• Ability to be available for work during evenings and weekends as needed to meet the demands of the role.
• Vulnerable sector check and criminal record check to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable populations.
COMPENSATION & HOURS OF WORK:
• $20-23 per hour
• 32 hours per week
