**This is a non-union, part-time, contract position scheduled to work 25 hours per week**                                                                                                 

 

DUTIES

 

•     Conduct an initial assessment for clients to determine eligibility for Mindset Makeover Program

•     Conduct outreach to promote the program among community partners.

•     Participate in community outreach activities to identify community resources, services, and programs supporting and addressing clients’ issues that are impeding achievements of personal career and overall life goals.

•     Outreach for mentors; facilitate orientation and training sessions for both clients and mentors.

•     Prepare and facilitate 3 weeks of small group and individualized virtual workshops covering growth mindset and confidence building topics such as overcoming imposter syndrome, developing resilience and adaptability, personal branding and job search preparation.

•     Provide information to clients on how to research community services and supports available to their needs and assist them as necessary in accessing those resources.

•     Work together with clients to develop a personalize action plan by utilizing techniques such as guided journaling and motivational interviews.

•     Engage participants throughout the workshop by encouraging participation, fostering discussions, and creating a supportive learning environment that promotes interaction and collaboration.

•     Offer guidance and support to participants, answering questions, addressing concerns, and providing feedback to help individuals navigate the workshop content and activities.

•     Match participants with mentors; monitor and support throughout the mentoring period.

•     Follows up with clients, monitors and supports their progress to ensure that the action plans are fulfilled.

•     Maintain complete electronic case notes and service entries throughout the client relationship and compiles written and statistical reports as needed.

•     Arrange guest speakers as needed. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

•     Career and Work diploma, Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.

•     Minimum 1-year experience working with women-focused programs providing support, preferably to immigrant and minority women in Canada.

•     Minimum 1-year experience doing guided journaling, motivational interviewing and group facilitation techniques.

•     Advanced proficiency in delivering clear and compelling presentations

•     Certifications in instructional design, facilitation, or adult learning principles are considered an asset.

•     Knowledge of solution-focused counselling and group work process.

•     Thorough knowledge of local community-based services and programs that support newcomer immigrant women facing multiple barriers and issues.

•     Demonstrated skills providing services using virtual tools: MS Teams, Zoom, high five, web apps, internet, and Windows environment software etc.

•     Sensitive to and aware of the social problems facing immigrants and in particular marginalized community groups that are facing multiple barriers to employment and life stabilization issues.

•     Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.

•     Life Skills Training Coach Certificate would be an asset.
