We currently have a vacancy for a full-time (35-hours/week) Clinical Counsellor in our Counselling Program.

Position Summary

Family Services of Peel is seeking a qualified and compassionate Clinical Counsellor to provide individual, couple, family, and group counselling services to a diverse client population. The successful candidate will demonstrate clinical competence, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to trauma-informed, equity-based care.

Job Responsibilities

•       Provide individual, couple, family, and group counselling to clients from diverse backgrounds

•       Apply trauma-informed approaches to counselling, ensuring emotional safety and empowerment for clients

•       Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all counselling services, in compliance with Agency policies and professional registration standards

•       Build the profile of Family Services of Peel by liaising with community agencies and developing networks

•       Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for service improvement

•       Collaborate on team assignments and agency-wide projects

•       Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Agency policies and procedures

•       Support the orientation and training of placement students

•       Participate in outreach and community engagement initiatives

•       Perform other relevant duties as assigned, in support of the team or Agency

 Mandatory Requirements

•       Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counselling)

•       Minimum 3-years experience providing counselling to individuals, couples, and families

•       Competence and/or additional training in trauma-informed care, cognitive/behavioural approaches, brief therapy, couple and family counselling, addictions counselling, and group facilitation

•       Experience in community outreach and working with diverse organizations and populations

•       Current and ongoing membership in good standing as a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)

•       Valid Ontario driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle

•       Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check (at own expense)

•       Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, client management and online tools

•       Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development

•       Availability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings and weekends

•       Ability to work at various locations throughout the Peel region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon)  

•       Superior command of the English language (written and oral)

•       Familiarity with virtual work platforms

Assets

•       Additional language(s)

•       Experience with trauma recovery models (e.g., EMDR, somatic therapies, narrative therapy)

•       Knowledge of anti-oppressive and anti-racist frameworks

•       As there may be a remote component to this job, the ability to work remotely from a safe and private home office with high-speed Internet and necessary technical equipment
