About us:
Kids Kottage provides care and shelter for children who may be facing a crisis. Established in 1995, Kids Kottage is a not-for-profit and charitable organization licensed to provide 24-hour residential care for children aged 0-10.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a full-time Early Learning & Care Supervisor. Hours of work include Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; however, the role requires flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts as needed to ensure proper supervision and across all operational hours.
The Early Learning & Care Supervisor provides leadership in program development, play‑based learning, and high‑quality program delivery for children ages 0–10. This role ensures that early learning experiences reflect current child development research, regulatory requirements, and the organization’s Practice Framework. The Supervisor supports, guides, and mentors Lead staff and Childcare staff to deliver responsive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and oversee age‑appropriate, culturally responsive, and play‑based programming.
Create weekly/monthly program plans, activity guides, and learning invitations for all age groups.
Monitor, observe, and assess program delivery to ensure high-quality early learning experiences.
Evaluate program effectiveness using developmental indicators, observations, and documentation.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing professional support to staff.
Lead sessions on program planning and delivery.
Model best practices in play-based learning, child-guided interactions, and trauma‑informed care.
Collaborate with staff to ensure environments and activities are inclusive and accessible for all children.
Work closely with the leadership team to align program goals with organizational mission and standards.
Communicate programming expectations and updates clearly to staff.
Support staff in maintaining safe, clean, and organized environments that promote exploration and independence.
Ensure programming meets or exceeds all provincial childcare regulations, health and safety requirements, and accreditation standards.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care, or related field (ECE Level 3 or equivalent preferred).
Demonstrated experience in program planning and delivery, or early learning leadership.
Strong understanding of child development, play-based learning, and emergent childcare models.
Experience providing guidance, mentorship, or peer leadership in an early learning setting.
Creativity and a passion for designing engaging learning environments.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:
Crisis Nursery, located at 13308 101 Street Edmonton, T5E 4G3
The Crisis Nursery provides 24-hour care for children 10 and under.
40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Flexibility is required in availability for shifts in the evening with the occasional evening, overnight and weekend as needed.
Benefits & Remuneration:
The annual wage for this position is $60,000-$70,000 per year based on education and experience.
