COSTI is seeking Supply Language Instructors to support its English as a Second Language (ESL) programs across multiple locations and delivery formats. This is a Part-Time Non-Union Supply Contract position, with assignments available daytime, afternoon, evening, and weekend, delivered in-person and online. Assignments may take place in Peel Region, Toronto, and York Region.

 

 

DUTIES 

 

•         Develop and deliver ESL lessons aligned with the Revised Canadian Language Benchmarks 2012.

•         Design PBLA based module plans and daily lesson plans.

•         Deliver instruction for Stage 1 (CLB 1–4) and Stage 2 (CLB 5–8) learners, as assigned.

•         Conduct needs assessments and support learners in setting learning goals.

•         Design and administer assessment tasks in accordance with PBLA guidelines.

•         Prepare learner conference summaries and progress reports.

•         Conduct one-on-one learner conferences to provide feedback on progress.

•         Support learners in maintaining their PBLA Language Companions (portfolios).

•         Integrate online tools and Learning Management Systems such as Avenue in instruction.

•         Deliver instruction using MS Teams where required.

•         Maintain attendance records and required program documentation.

•         Participate in program meetings and professional development as required. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

•         TESL certificate from an accredited institution recognized by TESL Ontario.

•         OCELT (Ontario Certified English Language Teacher) certification is required.

•         Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching English as a Second Language to adult newcomers.

•         Demonstrated ability to teach Stage 1 (CLB 1–4) and/or Stage 2 (CLB 5–8) learners.

•         In-depth knowledge of the Revised Canadian Language Benchmarks 2012.

•         Completion of PBLA training and Avenue.ca Stage 2 is preferred.

•         Experience teaching in LINC, ESL, and/or Workplace Language Training (WLT) programs is an asset.

•         Experience delivering online and/or hybrid instruction using MS Teams is an asset.

•         Strong organizational and time management skills.

•         Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.

•         Ability to work independently and adapt to varying class levels and modalities.
