CONTEXT
Oxfam-Québec is implementing the Voluntary Cooperation Program (VPC) entitled “Equality in Action” working in close collaboration with Oxfam teams in the countries of intervention. This program will take place over a period of eight years (2020-2028) in about ten countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. The VCP aims to increase the performance of local partner organizations in the countries of intervention through the implementation of inclusive, innovative, and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support civil society organizations (CSOs) working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people to claim and exercise their rights. The knowledge, capacity and expertise of the qualified volunteers will be leveraged through short and long-term assignments with local partner organizations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In close collaboration with the OiA Accountable and Inclusive Governance team, the advisor will be responsible for:
- Develop and implement communications plans for the Civic Space Knowledge Hub in coordination with the core team on the key products: newsletter, web- communities, working group meetings, special learning sessions.
- Maintain an overall calendar of events.
- Manage web communities and ensure regular content creation with input of the core team
- Design and produce creative, user-friendly communications in multiple formats (such as videos, infographics, presentations) for Oxfam staff and partners.
- Manage membership lists for recruitment and engagement, and coordinate visibility and promotion of the Knowledge Hub on internal platforms with accessible, multilingual content (e.g., Viva Engage and Compass pages).
- Support the production, editing, translation, organization, and dissemination of learning materials (including newsletters, case studies, toolkits, and briefing papers) ensuring they are well-structured, accessible, widely shared across the confederation, and adequately stored.
- Document calls, learning sessions, and meetings, ensuring agendas, invitations, notes, and key insights are prepared, organized, and shared promptly.
- Strengthening membership and consolidating participation in WAF Civic Space Working Group:
- Foster interest, participation, and commitment among existing members through regular communications and support; and secure their active collaboration in activitiesà
- Assist in coordinating the WAF Civic Space Working Group, including invitations, agendas, facilitation, and note-taking.
- Maintain both formal and informal communication with members to identify needs, share updates, and strengthen engagement within the group.
- Identify relevant opportunities and develop activities/products to share the knowledge/knowledge products to support country offices’ governance work.
- Contribute to and/or coordinate advocacy and influencing event hosting or campaigns on civic space and broader governance issues.
