PLEA Community Services is currently seeking an Excluded Temporary Full-Time Accounting Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs) for our Finance team located in Vancouver, BC. This temporary fixed term-contract is proposed to start on April 20, 2026 and end on August 28, 2026. This position is excluded from BCGEU membership.

The Accounting Assistant supports the Finance team in completing accounts payable and receivable responsibilities. They assist with audit preparation, financial reporting, and data entry as required.

Hours of Work: The usual hours of work in this position are Monday to Friday from 8:30AM to 4:00PM, based on 35 working hours per week. Occasional evenings, weekends and statutory holidays may be required to meet departmental needs.

Education/Experience Requirements: Working towards one (1) year of post-secondary education in business, accounting, office administration or a related discipline, and the completion of a high school diploma.

What You Will Do: 

  • Assist with the completion of the accounts payable responsibilities, such as processing accounts payables, paying vendors within the agreed period, and following up to resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Support the processing of monthly accounts receivables transactions including invoicing, invoice adjustments, bill backs, credit card payments, receipts, refunds and collections. Code, enter, and apply invoices, refunds, payments and bank deposits into the accounting software.
  • Track revenue and client information associated with funding contracts and complete monthly billing, payment, and deposit reconciliations in conjunction with other members of the Finance team.
  • Assist members of the Finance team with the year-end audit preparation. Maintain accounting records for audit. Provide documents to auditors during audit field testing.
  • Enter data, file documents, and complete ad hoc reporting (for PLEA and business entities) as assigned. Organize the retrieval and control of records as required.
  • Ensure that all records, reports, and documentation pertaining to financial management are accurate, complete, safely stored and in compliance with PLEA’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide occasional backfill coverage for reception as a member of the Administration team.
  • Protect and uphold confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Clearance
  • Documentation that the applicant is legally authorized to work on an ongoing basis in Canada.
