Who we need

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities and Administration, we are hiring a Property Manager for Camp Towhee, CDI's overnight summer Therapeutic Recreation Program. As the Property Manager, you will oversee the Camp Towhee property through the spring, summer and fall months. You will maintain the overall safety, cleanliness and hygiene of the camp in order to ensure the well-being of campers and staff.  

This existing role is a six-month contract role from May 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026 with the opportunity to renew annually.

Your work ensures cabins are secure, grounds are safe, and facilities function smoothly so campers can focus on building confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories. What you fix, build, and maintain directly supports their experience.

A chance to share your connection with the outdoors. You love camp. Whether it's portaging and pitching tents or traditional cabins, you were made to be outdoors. You will maintain cabins, trails, docks, and shared spaces, helping keep the camp safe, functional, and ready for daily programs.

As our new Property Manager, Camp Towhee, you will:

• Maintain and protect the property. You will complete general maintenance, cleaning, and repairs across the camp as directed by the Manager, Facilities and Administration, and the Camp Director. You will open and close the property seasonally, including managing water systems, and ensure all buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. You will complete approved maintenance requests in a timely manner and take on additional projects as required.
• Oversee water, waste, and site systems. You will monitor and maintain the drinking water system, including daily testing and submitting samples to Public Health. You will collect and dispose of garbage throughout the site daily and, during camp season, use your vehicle to transport waste to the local dump. You will proactively identify and address potential property concerns before they escalate.
• Support safe program delivery. You will regularly inspect camp program areas and equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness, and repair unsafe conditions immediately. You will liaise daily with Kitchen and Catering staff to support smooth operations and ensure facilities meet program needs.
• Manage supplies, budgets, and communication. You will track maintenance expenses, manage purchasing within budget, and order cleaning and paper supplies as required. You will communicate property needs and updates to the Camp Director daily and ensure accurate reporting of any issues.
• Lead and collaborate. You will supervise maintenance assistants and meet regularly with the Camp Director for supervision and debriefing. You will participate fully as part of the staff team, working cooperatively across departments, supporting camp policies, and serving as a positive role model for staff and campers.
• Provide off-season stewardship. From September through March, you will visit the camp weekly to inspect buildings and grounds for damage or concerns and report findings to the Manager, Facilities and Administration. You will remove snow from roofs and critical areas as needed to protect infrastructure.

What you bring:

• The technical capability. You have experience in a hands-on maintenance or facilities role. You are skilled with hand and power tools and can complete repairs safely and independently. You understand the pace, seasonality, and safety requirements of maintaining both indoor and outdoor facilities, including waterfront areas, kitchens and dining halls, cabins, and washrooms. You are comfortable with the physical nature of the work, including being on your feet, working outdoors in varying weather, and lifting or moving materials up to 25 lbs as needed.
• The adaptability. You interact professionally with campers, families, visitors, and staff and understand your role in supporting a positive camp environment. As camp operates 24/7 during the season, you are willing to take on on-call responsibilities and respond promptly to urgent maintenance needs. 
• The licenses. You hold a valid G Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record and are willing to use your vehicle for site-related duties when required. An F licence is considered an asset, and you are comfortable operating a 15-passenger vehicle. You have, or are willing to obtain as part of your CDI training, certification to operate a small drinking water system.
• The problem-solving skills. You understand the need to maintain professional boundaries with campers at all times. You approach maintenance challenges with practical problem-solving skills, assess options thoughtfully, and take responsible action within established guidelines.

• In accordance with the CDI Mandatory Vaccination Policy, proof of measles vaccination is required as a condition of hire.

Compensation: At Child Development Institute (CDI), we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and supportive of your experience and growth. For this role, the annualized salary is $62,400 and will be paid on a pro-rated basis for the duration of the contract. This amount includes 4% vacation pay. A completion bonus of $2,050 will be paid separately at the end of the contract. Salary is determined by the complexity of the position and internal equity, ensuring a fair and competitive salary within our sector.
