This is a 6-month mandate based in Meknès, Morocco.

The mandate is part of the Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) Equality in Action, which is being implemented in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020–2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in the countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable initiatives that advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organizations, which work with the most vulnerable and marginalized populations, in claiming and exercising their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of all its actions.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

In close collaboration with the Oxfam team in Morocco and the partner organization Dar Al Mahgreb, the advisor will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to the development of Dar Al Maghreb's gender strategy;
  • Support Dar Al Maghreb in drafting its gender policy;
  • Support Dar Al Maghreb in developing its action plan for gender justice;
  • Strengthen the capacity of the organisation's members to take ownership of the various tools developed (gender strategy, gender policy, etc.);

To be eligible for this mandate, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Hold a university degree in gender and feminist studies, international development or any other relevant field;
  • Have two years of experience in a similar role, in advocacy and gender justice, or any other relevant field;
  • Be fluent in spoken and written French; Arabic would be an asset;
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook tools such as Teams.
