This is a 12-month mandate based in Youssoufia, Morocco.

The mandate is part of the Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP) Equality in Action, which is being implemented in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020–2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in the countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable initiatives that advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organizations, which work with the most vulnerable and marginalized populations, in claiming and exercising their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of all its actions.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

In close collaboration with the Oxfam team in Morocco and the partner organization Kholoud, the advisor will be responsible for:

  • Strengthen the capacity of Kholoud members to respond to calls for projects in French by equipping them with French writing skills.
  • Strengthen the capacity of Kholoud members to advocate for women's and girls' rights in French before international bodies; this will involve equipping them with French oral expression skills.
  • Equip Kholoud members with French language comprehension skills so that they can participate more effectively in international meetings on gender justice issues.

To be eligible for this mandate, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Hold a university degree in French language and literature, French language teaching, education, or any other relevant field.
  • Have experience in designing and facilitating adult education courses.
  • Oral communication skills in Arabic (mandatory)
  • Have experience working in the field in sometimes unusual conditions (an asset).
  • Proficiency in Office Suite and use of Outlook environment tools such as Teams.
