Catering & Food Service Supervisor – Joy Bible Camp

Location: Joy Bible Camp, Bancroft, Ontario
Position Type: Permanent, full-time, flexible seven-day work week

Joy Bible Camp is seeking a Catering & Food Service Supervisor to join our ministry team immediately. This is a unique opportunity to combine leadership, hands-on food service, and hospitality in a Christ-centred environment where every meal is part of our ministry. Our mission is to renew, repair, and rebuild lives through intentional hospitality, and the Food Service Supervisor ensures every guest experience is nourishing, welcoming, and memorable.

Key Responsibilities

Food Service & Catering Leadership

  • Oversee catering and food service operations under the direction of the Food Service Manager, or in their absence.

  • Ensure meals, snacks, and beverages are prepared, presented, and served on schedule and at peak quality for groups of 10–250 people.

  • Accommodate special dietary needs, allergies, and therapeutic diets, providing equitable, high-quality alternatives.

  • Collaborate in menu planning, offering ideas and feedback to maintain relevance and guest favourites.

  • Support inventory management, ordering, receiving, and storage of food supplies.

  • Chart and monitor temperatures of coolers, freezers, and dishwasher operations for safety and compliance.

  • Identify workflow challenges, mitigate risks, and reorganize processes to ensure efficient, safe, and timely food service.

  • Promote continual improvement in catering operations, enhancing guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

Hands-On Food Preparation & Service

  • Assist with the preparation and cooking of complete meals, including special dietary options and baked goods.

  • Properly store and reuse leftovers in accordance with Public Health regulations, minimizing waste and encouraging recycling.

  • Maintain readiness of kitchen, dining, snack, and coffee service areas according to guest schedules.

  • Ensure all food service and kitchen operations meet or exceed Public Health and Food Safe standards.

Spiritual Leadership

  • Model Christ in all words, actions, and interactions.

  • Promote Joy Bible Camp’s mission, purpose, core values, and strategic plan internally and externally.

  • Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to volunteers, interns, summer staff, and coworkers.

  • Pray for the ministry, guests, and team members, nurturing a culture rooted in personal faith.

  • Pursue personal spiritual growth and active involvement in a local church.

Intentional Hospitality

  • Demonstrate Christ-like care and service to guests, staff, and community members.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to unexpected guest needs.

  • Maintain a positive, welcoming, and professional atmosphere.

  • Communicate efficiently through meetings, emails, and calls to ensure guest and team needs are met quickly.

Physical & Operational Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs and work in temperatures from 30° to 100°F.

  • Work long, physically demanding hours, especially during peak season (July–August) and weekends.

  • Flexibility to manage seasonal demands and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications & Personal Development

  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Desire to learn and grow professionally while leading a dedicated catering team.

  • Complete an Ontario Food Handlers Certificate within two weeks of hire and comply with ongoing food safety regulations.

  • Strong team-building skills to support and mentor volunteers, interns, and staff.

  • Personal knowledge and experience of the saving work of Jesus Christ, with commitment to spiritual growth and church involvement.
