About the Role
We’re seeking a Community Fundraising & Events Officer to help elevate Diabetes Canada’s events and partnerships by developing strategies to cultivate, solicit and steward new corporate supporters, volunteers and volunteer committees, while supporting fundraising events.
Reporting to the Manager, Community Fundraising & Events, the Officer works closely with the Community Fundraising and Events (CFE) team and the National Corporate Partnerships team to build strong internal and external relationships and ensure high-quality, consistent stewardship of our event donors and corporate partners.
Location: Our National Office is located at 1000–170 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. We offer a flexible work arrangement, allowing employees to work remotely or hybrid; with occasional expectation to be on-site for team meetings, event coordination, and event attendance.
Note: For this role, a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
Compensation: The hiring salary range for this role is $75,000 – 78,000 annually, depending on skills and experience with meeting the requirements of the role.
What You’ll Do
- Identify, develop and cultivate corporate relationships to help sustain and grow the events portfolio, including solicitation for employee engagement initiatives, events and related peer-to-peer campaigns.
- Recruit volunteers and support event-organizing committees.
- Partner with the Manager, CFE, and National Corporate Partnerships team to identify and maximize corporate sponsorship and engagement opportunities.
- Work closely with the Coordinator, CFE, to ensure all sponsorship deliverables are fulfilled.
- Develop compelling proposals and presentations for corporate prospects that align with Diabetes Canada’s business plan and market trends.
- Manage a pipeline of qualified prospects and coordinate activities with other fundraising activities.
- Conduct prospect research to identify new contacts, companies, and growth opportunities.
- Use a moves-management approach with corporate constituents and maintain accurate records in the organization’s CRM system.
- Support the CFE team with in-person events.
Note: This role is not limited to the responsibilities listed above and may include other duties as required.
What You Bring
- 3 - 5 years of proven fundraising experience in a high relationship-based environment.
- University or College degree in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience recruiting and supporting volunteer committees.
- Non-profit experience in a health-care charity is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with comfort initiating outreach to new contacts.
- Experience with a fundraising-related CRM an asset.
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize competing requests and adjust plans as needs evolve.
- Flexibility to travel and attend occasional evening and weekend events and meetings.
- Understands and demonstrates a commitment to Diabetes Canada’s mission, vision and core values.
