Event Coordinator Summer Intern (Climate Action)

Nanaimo Climate Action Hub

May 1 – August 31, 2026 | $3,750 CAD per month | Full-Time Contract | Nanaimo, BC (Hybrid)

Continuing the momentum from our highly successful 2025 Nanaimo Climate Connections Summit, we’re now building toward our 2027 event — and we’re looking for a driven, organized, climate-focused student to help make it happen.

This is a meaningful leadership opportunity — not an administrative internship. Under the direction of the Steering Committee and the NCAH Community Engagement Leadership, you will help to coordinate content, speakers, sponsorships, promotions, logistics, and budgeting alongside dedicated volunteers.

Who Should Apply?

Upper-year students (entering final year) in programs such as Environmental Studies, Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Communications, Business (sustainability focus), Event Management, Indigenous Studies, or related fields.

Most importantly: demonstrated passion for climate action and community impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with tasks in accordance with the overall event timeline and work plan

  • Work with volunteers to produce conference deliverables

  • Support speaker outreach and program development

  • Conduct sponsorship outreach and track commitments

  • Support the coordination of  promotions and communications

  • Conduct venue visits and vendor coordination

  • Track budget and maintain documentation systems

  • Professionalism and sound judgment

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and virtual tools

Must reside in Nanaimo or surrounding area and be available for in-person meetings as needed.

Potential part-time continuation into Fall/Winter 2026–2027.
