Manager, Individual Giving

Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) – Toronto, ON | Permanent, Full-time

Do you believe in the power of music — and in using data, strategy, and storytelling to grow the community behind it?

Join us to help build the donor community that makes transformative musical experiences accessible to all.

About the TSO

For over a century, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra has helped shape and celebrate Canadian culture through acclaimed performances, tours, recordings, and community partnerships. Today, the Orchestra presents 100+ concerts annually, engaging audiences of all ages and backgrounds through vibrant musical experiences and education initiatives.

The Role

The Manager, Individual Giving is a newly created role at the TSO. You are a marketer at heart — self-motivated, with a keen eye for effective storytelling and a strong grasp of fundraising strategy and project management. In this role, you'll integrate marketing strategy, data insight, and storytelling to grow donor relationships, drive sustainable revenue, and build the foundation for long-term philanthropic success.

Reports to: Director, Individual Giving

Status: Permanent Full-time

Start date: as soon as possible

What you’ll do

  • Lead the planning and optimization of integrated annual giving programs across direct mail, email, and digital channels to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors in the Friends and Impresarios Club portfolios.

  • Develop compelling donor-focused messaging and content, coordinating campaign timelines, approvals, and creative assets with internal stakeholders.

  • Deploy and manage email campaigns through WordFly; oversee third-party and tribute giving platforms (Benevity, United Way, CanadaHelps) to track performance and grow revenue streams.

  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance using CRM and web analytics tools; build dashboards and reports tracking revenue, retention, response rates, and ROI.

  • Manage project timelines and cross-functional workflows across internal and external partners to ensure integrated, on-time, on-budget execution.

  • Collaborate with Development Operations on data segmentation and integrity; provide data-backed recommendations to improve donor experience, program effectiveness, and revenue outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in annual giving, direct response, or fundraising, with a demonstrated track record of meeting revenue targets and executing multi-channel campaigns across direct mail, email, and digital channels.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking KPIs, building dashboards, and using CRM and web analytics tools to optimize segmentation, performance, and ROI (Tessitura, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or similar).

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to move from strategy to copy and develop compelling, donor-focused content across fundraising assets.

  • Proven project management ability — coordinating timelines, stakeholders, and external vendors across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment; proficiency with WordFly or similar email platforms, and advanced Microsoft Office and Google Workspace skills.

  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools and donor journey development is an asset; experience using automation to enhance segmentation, personalization, and campaign efficiency is a plus.

  • Passion for arts and culture, or knowledge of the performing arts or orchestral sector, is an asset but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $70,000–$90,000 CAD (commensurate with experience).

  • Benefits: 100% company paid benefits including Telus-Health Employee Family Assistance program (provided after successful completion of the first three (3) months of employment); company-paid pension contributions provided after the completion of one year of employment; 15 days vacation prorated during the first year, complimentary tickets to TSO concerts and a hybrid work environment.
