Director of Development
Partners for Affordable Housing
A third of Canadians are struggling with the cost of housing. Across the country, promising solutions exist but too often stall because of funding gaps. Partners for Affordable Housing is a national charity dedicated to accelerating the creation of dignified, affordable housing by bringing together the partners needed to move projects forward.
Partners advances P4 partnerships—public, private, and philanthropic actors working alongside community housing providers. By mobilizing socially inspired capital and connecting donors, foundations, corporate partners, and social impact investors with trusted nonprofit housing organizations, Partners helps unlock projects that can transform communities.
The need is urgent: when housing instability pushes people into crisis, the cost to society multiplies. Providing stable housing is not only more humane—it is far more cost-effective than emergency services, shelters, hospitals, or corrections. Through innovative partnerships and catalytic philanthropy, Partners is proving that this complex challenge can be solved.
Partners for Affordable Housing is seeking a Director of Development (Alberta) to play a pivotal leadership role in the next phase of the organization’s growth. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the Director will lead regional fundraising efforts with a focus on securing transformational gifts in the six- and seven-figure range. As the organization expands its presence in Alberta, this role will serve as a regional catalyst—building and executing a robust development strategy while cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate partners, and foundations. The Director will manage the full fundraising pipeline from prospect identification and qualification to solicitation and stewardship, connecting local funders to the organization’s “Front Door” portfolio of more than 30 nonprofit housing partners with shovel-ready projects. Working closely with Marketing and Program teams, the Director will help craft compelling proposals and impact reports, while also engaging the Board of Directors and Advisory Council to leverage networks and deepen the organization’s reach across the region.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and entrepreneurial fundraising professional with at least five years of major gift experience and a demonstrated track record of securing six- and seven-figure contributions. They are energized by the opportunity to build in a growing organization and bring a proactive, self-starting approach to developing new partnerships and systems from the ground up. The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, enabling them to inspire donor confidence and translate complex housing challenges into compelling philanthropic opportunities. A collaborative spirit, disciplined approach to managing donor pipelines, and a passion for advancing innovative solutions to Canada’s housing crisis will position this leader to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
