Landlord Engagement Coordinator – Bissell Centre

The Landlord Engagement Coordinator supports the effective administration of the housing support program operations by serving as a liaison between participants, housing staff, landlords and the accounting department. This role combines landlord engagement and housing-related administrative functions with ensuring accurate documentation, timely processing of payments, and compliance with organizational financial procedures, and the Residential Tenancy Act (RTA).

This position plays a key role in maintaining positive landlord relationships, coordinating move-out inspections and damage documentation, and supporting reimbursement and payment processes associated with Bissell Centre’s housing programs. The role ensures financial transactions related to housing support are complete, accurate, and audit ready.

Duties and Responsibilities

Landlord Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen professional relationships with landlords, property management companies, and housing providers to support successful tenancies.
  • Act as the primary liaison between landlords, Follow-Up Support Workers, Housing Support Workers, and internal departments.
  • Provide ongoing support to landlords throughout the tenancy lifecycle, including move-in, tenancy, and move-out processes.
  • Respond to landlord inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional, and solutions-focused manner.
  • Support staff and landlords in understanding lease agreements, inspection processes, and obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA).

Program Coordination & Housing Support

  • Coordinate and attend move-out inspections as required, ensuring accurate documentation of unit condition and damages.
  • Assist in resolving tenancy-related concerns, including disputes and documentation required under the Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Collaborate with housing teams to ensure continuity of care and consistent service delivery for program participants.
  • Provide up-to-date program information, statistics, and reports as required.

 

Financial Administration & Processing

  • Prepare, review, and submit cheque requisitions and financial documentation related to landlord payments and reimbursements.
  • Collect and review statements of account, receipts, and supporting documentation submitted by landlords for accuracy and completeness.
  • Track landlord reimbursement requests in accordance with program policies, internal financial procedures, and RTA requirements.
  • Ensure all required approvals and documentation are in place prior to submission to the finance department.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage and expense claims in alignment with organizational policies.

Compliance, Documentation & Data Management

  • Ensure all activities comply with internal policies, financial controls, and the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA).
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including file notes, program records, and critical incident reports.
  • Enter and update data in organizational systems (e.g., ETO) to ensure records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Support data tracking and reporting requirements related to housing program expenditures and outcomes.

Collaboration & Team Support

  • Work collaboratively with housing, finance, and administrative teams to ensure coordinated service delivery and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Share information, provide updates, and contribute to team meetings and planning processes.
  • Support a positive team environment through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support program operations and organizational priorities.

Health, Safety & Operational Requirements

  • Working alone is required, as is familiarity with working alone and following safety protocols.
  • Conduct site visits to landlord properties as required.
  • Operate a personal vehicle for work-related duties, ensuring appropriate insurance and documentation are maintained.

Qualifications                                    

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Science or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years related employment experience
  • Experience working in housing programs, property management, or social services is considered an asset.
  • Alberta Class 5 License, satisfactory driver’s abstract and a vehicle

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Result oriented individual with good time management who possess strong problem-solving and advocacy skills.
  • Experience with data management systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with data or case management systems is an asset (e.g., ETO, Orbit, or similar systems)
  • Working knowledge of the Alberta Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) and landlord-tenant processes including lease agreements, inspections, notices, and damage claims.
  • Familiarity with issues of poverty, homelessness, and Edmonton’s urban core
  • Familiarity working with high-risk populations and an understanding of Indigenous cultures, history and current issues

Conditions of Work

  • Operation of personal vehicle with required insurance.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Site visits required with external landlords, property management companies, and housing providers for move-out inspections and landlord meetings.

  • Plan: Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create, and implement action plans, and evaluate the process and results.
  • Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.

Screening Requirements

  • Criminal Record Check
  • CWIS Check
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of $2 million PLPD insurance and drivers abstract.

Training Requirements

  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Conflict Into Calm Training
  • Indigenous Engagement

 

Conflict Into Calm Training must be completed during the three months of employment. Other required training may be identified as required.

Position: Contract, Full-Time (until March 31, 2027)

Wage: $30.00 per hour
