We are seeking a Fund Development Officer to support and strengthen McMan’s funding and community engagement efforts.

 

About the Role

The Fund Development Officer leads fund development initiatives to support McMan’s programs and strategic priorities. This role plays a key part in securing funding to support program growth and sustainability through grant writing, donor stewardship, and community partnerships, while also supporting internal and external communications to enhance organizational visibility and engagement.

 

Position Type & Hours

•       Permanent Full-Time Role: 40 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support events or community engagement activities

 

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role focuses on advancing fund development efforts to support program growth and sustainability, with communications responsibilities supporting these initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include:

 

Fund Development

•       Research, develop, and submit grant proposals and funding applications to government, foundations, and corporate partners to secure funding for programs, services, and operational needs

•       Maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewals; prepare grant reports and ensure compliance with all funder requirements

•       Work with program teams to gather data, outcomes, and impact stories, and translate these into compelling proposals and funder communications

•       Collaborate with leadership to identify funding priorities and contribute to the development of fund development strategies; prepare reports on fund development activities and outcomes.

•       Identify, build, and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to support long-term engagement and sustainable funding

•       Lead donor stewardship activities, including recognition, communication, and engagement; maintain accurate donor and prospect records using internal systems

•       Support the planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns and events to increase awareness and community investment in McMan's work

 

Communications Support

•       Ensure consistent messaging aligned with McMan's values and brand across internal and external channels

•       Collaborate with program teams to gather impact stories and content that support fund development and community engagement

•       Assist with website updates, social media content, and internal communications as needed

What you bring:

•       Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, Business, or a related field. Equivalency will be considered

•       Minimum of 5 years of experience in fund development, grant writing, or donor relations (non-profit experience preferred).

•       Strong understanding of fundraising approaches, including grants, donor engagement, and campaigns

•       Familiarity with grant research tools and donor management or CRM systems is an asset

•       Experience with digital communications, social media management, and content creation is an asset

•       Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills

•       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop proposals, reports, and impact-focused messaging

•       Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

•       Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

•       Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are assets.
