Job Title: Kitchen Helper

Reports to: Head Cook

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri

Job Summary: 

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of kitchen related duties within the Hope Mission Calgary kitchen.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the food preparation, including: sorting, washing, and peeling, chopping, slicing and cooking of food.
• Assist in the general duties of the kitchen department, including: cleaning of the working area, dish washing, setting up tables and chairs, and other duties determined by Head Cook.
• Maintain excellent serving and cleaning standards.
• Ability to communicate with Head Cook, Inventory controller and other employees.
• Maintain a positive and safe kitchen environment.
• Ability to work well with staff, volunteers and work-service program workers.
• Be courteous to guests, staff and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• Completion of high school.
• Related work experience as a cook or kitchen helper is an asset.
• Understanding of food processing and kitchen equipment is an asset.
• Able to provide Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Agree to and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith
• Self-management skills
