This is a 12-month mandate based in Tunisia or Morrocco, with travels to both countries.

The mandate is part of the Equality in Action Voluntary Cooperation Programme (PCV), which is being rolled out in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028). The PCV aims to increase the involvement of local partners in the countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organisations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalised people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam puts the rights of women, girls and vulnerable and marginalised people at the heart of all its actions.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

In close collaboration with the Oxfam VCP Programme Manager in Tunisia and partner organisations in Tunisia and Morocco, the advisor will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the review of partners’ gender strategies, where these exist, or supporting their development or updating.
  • Supporting the implementation of gender strategies through feminist policies, processes and practices within organisations.
  • Support the integration of a cross-cutting feminist approach into all partners’ strategic documents.
  • Build the capacity of organisation members to promote the adoption and use of the various tools developed (gender strategy, gender policy, etc.).
  • Support the collection and analysis of data related to the PCV in both countries.

To be eligible for this mandate, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Hold a university degree in gender studies, feminist studies, international development, or another relevant field;
  • Have at least 2 years of professional experience related to the mandate, including andragogical training;
  • Have a thorough understanding of feminist theories and approaches, particularly within an organisational context;
  • Be able to adapt to an uncertain and changing environment and have a good tolerance for uncertainty;
  • Be able to travel within the VCP's areas of operation in Tunisia and Morocco;
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Be fluent in spoken and written French (mandatory). Fluency in Arabic would be an asset.
