We’re seeking a dynamic, personable and versatile Programs Manager for our satellite location: the Kitsilano-Fairview Community Policing Centre, located at 1687 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC.

 

Description

Under the supervision of, and reporting to the Executive Director of West End-Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre (WECHCPC), the Programs Manager is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and maintaining a strong volunteer base to execute community programs and services, in collaboration with the Vancouver Police Department (which operates the facility).

 

The Programs Manager projects the work of KFCPC responsively and positively through managing and overseeing the storefront office and its services; and planning and implementing community engagement activities. In executing this work, the Programs Manager maintains and strengthens existing partnerships with VPD, ICBC, local business improvement associations, schools, and other community-serving groups.

 

The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience in community development and/or crime prevention and education; is self-motivated, flexible, friendly, able to work well independently; and possesses skill in leadership, time management, and communication. Acquaintance with the needs and resources available in the West Point Grey, Kitsilano, Fairview, Arbutus and False Creek neighbourhoods; or a background in community policing or law enforcement are assets.

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Volunteer or Program Management, Community Engagement, Public Safety, or equivalent preferred.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written), with excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant work or volunteer experience, especially in community policing.
  • Experience using MS365 (MS Office) and a good capacity to use social media.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision (supervisor is offsite).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, clear driving record, and use of a reliable vehicle.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.

 

Scheduling:

This position is 35 hours a week, onsite or in the community. Shifts coordinate with facility business hours; Monday to Friday, 10-6. Weeknight and weekend work is required on occasion. Overtime is compensated with time-in-lieu.  

 

Compensation:

$22.80/hour plus 5% in lieu of benefits and 4% vacation.
