Who We Are
The Victoria Disability Resource Centre (VDRC) is a cross-disability, grassroots, not-for-profit run by and for persons with disabilities. Our team is made up entirely of people with lived experience, and we care deeply about the work we do, while also keeping things real, human, and (often) a little funny.

About the Role
We’re looking for someone to be trained to deliver our Disability Inclusion & Awareness Training (DIAT) out in the community.

This is not a stand-at-the-front-and-read-slides kind of job. Our training is interactive, discussion-based, and shaped by real experiences. People ask questions. Sometimes tough ones. Sometimes awkward ones. And that’s kind of the point.

You’ll be supported and trained, then gradually step into co-facilitating and leading sessions yourself.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Learning how to deliver DIAT through training and mentorship
  • Co-facilitating, then leading training sessions (in-person and on Zoom)
  • Getting people talking, even the quiet ones
  • Handling tough questions and tricky moments with confidence and respect
  • Reading the room and adjusting your approach as needed
  • Helping create a space where people feel comfortable asking questions and learning

You Might Be a Great Fit If You…

  • Have lived experience with disability (this is required)
  • Like talking with people (and people tend to talk back to you)
  • Have presented before, formally or informally
  • Can keep a group engaged, even when energy is low
  • Can handle challenging participants without getting flustered
  • Have a good sense of humour and know when to use it
  • Are comfortable with conversations that aren’t scripted
  • Are open to learning, feedback, and trying new things

Nice to Have (but not required)

  • Experience leading workshops or group discussions
  • Background in accessibility, inclusion, or community work
  • Comfort using Zoom and PowerPoint

The Details

• Casual, part-time hours that depend on bookings
• $18.25/hour to start
• Flexible schedule
• Paid training provided
• Mileage and travel costs covered for in-person sessions

Who Can Apply

This position is for persons who have a disability.

Why This Job is a Bit Different

  • You’re not just delivering content, you’re starting conversations
  • No two sessions are the same
  • You’ll get to connect with a wide range of people and organizations
  • You’ll be part of a team that genuinely supports each other
