The British Columbia Association of Community Health Centres (BCACHC) exists to advance the Community Health Centre (CHC) model. The association engages, advocates for, and supports our member CHCs as an integral part of health and social services in their communities in BC. BCACHC supports member CHCs by offering a variety of consulting services, tools, and research to advance the development of CHCs in the province. BCACHC currently has over 40 members.

Job description

Manager, Finance and Reporting – 18 months contract with possibility of an extension

An important focus for BCACHC in the next few years is in ensuring that we continue to support our member CHCs in the delivery of primary care and additional social services, allowing patients to receive comprehensive and connected care.  This manager-level, non-supervisory, contract position will support our work to bridge gaps across the health system, ensuring holistic, comprehensive and coordinated care for patients through facilitating accountability and stewardship of resources and funds provided to BCACHC and its members.

This position is ideal for an experienced finance professional looking for meaningful work with work-life balance.

Role Summary

The Manager, Finance and Reporting, reporting to the Director of Operations, is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial data, managing fund accounting and data reporting, and providing strategic insights to leadership. This position emphasizes transparency, mission-alignment, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Manager, Finance and Reporting will collaborate and work with BCACHC staff team to help the Association fulfil its vision and mission and support the delivery of its program and services outlined in its strategic and work plans. This role is a part time (30 hours/week), temporary (18 months, with the possibility of an extension) contract position.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred

 Skills

  • Analytical Skills: Essential for interpreting financial data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal skills are vital for presenting data and information to diverse stakeholders, including senior management, board members, association members, funders, and external auditors.
  • Leadership: The ability to lead effectively, manage projects, and foster collaboration across departments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in financial systems, software, and advanced spreadsheet functions.
  • Organizational: Superior organizational skills. Must be able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, as needed, to support deadlines.
  • Demonstrated openness to feedback, using reflection as a tool for continuous growth and development.
  • Strong skills in Excel, Office 365, and reporting and management tools.

 Experience

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in finance and reporting, ideally within a not-for-profit, healthcare, or public sector environment.
  • Equivalent experience in fund/grant management, development and stewardship including managing the administration of grant and service agreements, monitor funding schedules, ensure compliance with various funder-reporting requirements, performing data quality control/assurance, and tracking performance against budget and strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and oversee financial, strategic, and operational plans, prepare budget forecasting, and ensure accurate reporting and effective and timely communication with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work independently.
  • Demonstrated history of using discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience in community health setting is an asset.
  • Experience working with multiple funders or complex reporting environments is an asset.
