Overview

Join us in making a difference! JA British Columbia (JABC) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting & Office Coordinator to play an important role in supporting our finance operations and office environment.

As part of JABC’s Operations team, you will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the organization by supporting core accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, month-end support, and reporting. You will also help maintain an organized, welcoming, and well-equipped office and provide support to the Senior Salesforce Administrator. This is a great opportunity for someone who has solid accounting experience, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to grow into broader finance and systems responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for this role has a proactive approach to work, outstanding time-management skills, and ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities include:

Accounting and Finance Support

Ø  Process Accounts Payable, including ensuring proper authorization and accurate coding, posting journal entries, and issuing timely payments.

Ø  Process Accounts Receivable, including issuing invoices, recording payments, and reporting on outstanding receivables.

Ø  Post bank deposits; complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.

Ø  Maintain accounting schedules and prepare working papers.

Ø  Prepare and post routine and recurring general journal entries; perform accounts reconciliations on a monthly basis.

Ø  Compile supporting documentation, maintain organized electronic filing system, and assist with year-end audit.

Ø  Collaborate with Development team in reconciling revenue to Salesforce.

Ø  Export and format reports from QuickBooks Online.

Office Coordination

Ø  Order and monitor office, kitchenette, and workplace supplies.

Ø  Coordinate purchases of basic computer supplies and office equipment.

Ø  Liaise with vendors and service providers, as needed, regarding routine office needs.

Ø  Maintain day-to-day office upkeep, organization, and appearance.

Ø  Identify and suggest practical improvements that support staff experience, efficiency, and office organization.

Ø  Maintain an up-to-date inventory of assigned JABC property.

Ø  Provide general administrative support to help ensure smooth day-to-day office operations.

Salesforce Admin Support

Ø  Assist with basic record updates, data export and cleanup.

Ø  Prepare and maintain routine reports and dashboards to support multiple departments.

Ø  Help troubleshoot basic user issues and escalate more complex matters, as needed.

Other tasks

Ø  Maintain the general mailbox (), including responses to internal and external inquiries.

Ø  Assist with the ongoing development of accounting and office procedures and contribute to continuous improvement process.

Ø  Perform other duties as assigned by VP of Finance and Operations.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in accounting support, bookkeeping, finance coordination, or a similar role.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, schedules, and journal entries.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or a similar accounting system.
  • Experience with CRM or database systems; Salesforce experience is an asset but not required.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment is an asset.

Compensation

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday). The salary range for this position is $55,000–$60,000 per year, commensurate with experience and internal equity.
