RECREATION AIDE SUMMER STUDENT
Temporary Contract Position
Position Term: June 1, 2026 – August 28, 2026 (flexible start and end date)
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Pilgrims Hospice Society (PHS) is a registered charity that provides supportive and compassionate family-centered care to enhance quality and dignity of life for those diagnosed with a progressive illness.
Reporting to the Program Manager and working in close collaboration with the Recreation Therapy Aide, the Day Program Summer Student will assist in the setup, organization and implementation of meaningful recreation programs for clients with progressive, life-limiting illnesses. Qualified individuals will be compassionate and creative with excellent social skills and a great sense of humor.

Mandatory Employment Requirement: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check prior to first day of employment.

This position is funded by the Government of Canada – Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must meet the following Canada Summer Jobs program eligibility criteria to be considered for the position:
1) Applicants must be between 19 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
2) Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the full job term; and
3) Applicants must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Note: International students, temporary residents or work permit holders are not eligible to apply or participate in this program.
