EmployAbilities is currently filling an IT Support Technician. 

Agency Values and Leadership

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain workstations, printers, and phones (approximately 150 computers)
  • Provide remote support to external staff
  • Support clients during classroom instruction
  • Install updates for Java, Adobe etc., office, windows on all workstations
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and network related problems
  • Responsible for general maintenance of defined computer equipment and for the resolution of identified technical problems
  • Test new software
  • Make sure software available is appropriate for clients and staff
  • Ensure the anti-virus software is installed, kept up to date and working properly on all computer stations
  • Set up and maintain user e-mail accounts
  • Provide troubleshooting resolution and updating/upgrading of software and hardware
  • Maintain staff and client’s computer peripheral equipment, as requested
  • Keep a log of all technical faults (Support log)
  • Liaise with external suppliers for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance
  • Provide troubleshooting resolution and updating/upgrading of hardware to customers
  • Assist with and provide support/troubleshooting for server hardware
  • Network Management
  • Check the network back-up daily for maintenance
  • Set up, maintain and remove user network accounts where appropriate
  • Carry out routine network maintenance tasks 
  • Maintain IT stock and document the number of computers in each location throughout EmployAbilities.

Competencies, Skills & Attributes

The IT Support Technician will provide IT support to EmployAbilities staff and clients to ensure all IT equipment across the province is meeting the needs of the programs and services offered. Provides technical assistance to end users, ensuring that computer systems, hardware, and software function efficiently.  Troubleshoot issues, install systems, and support day-to-day IT operations.

 

Personal Qualities

  • Be able to work independently on his/her own initiative
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge and problem-solving strategies
  • Have high quality inter-personal skills
  • Keep abreast of new developments in software and hardware

Your Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a Computing Science program from a recognized institution
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Clear criminal record check
