Just-Us Girls Volunteer & Recruitment Coordinator

Term: June 2026 – June 2028 (2-year commitment)

Compensation: $38/hour - contract work

Time Commitment:

  • 10–30 hours per month

  • 2–5 sharing circles per month (service component)

  • 1–3 presentations (community outreach ) per month

Supervisor: Just-Us Girls Youth Justice Committee Executive Committee

Program Description: 

Just-Us Girls is a program by women and transfeminine people to support young women, transfeminine youth, and mothers ages 12-24. 

We support young women, transfeminine youth, and moms develop plans to keep themselves and their family safe. If the young woman is subject to a Child and Family Services’ Court Application, involved in child protection, and/or the young woman has been charged with a Youth Criminal Court matter we support her in developing a plan to address the court's concerns. The Just-Us Girls mentor will encourage and assist her in carrying out her plan. 

We are a volunteer-based group of women who have come together to deliver meaningful support services. Over the years we have developed an effective process that provides encouragement, guidance, and support to young women and transfeminine youth with or without children, helping them navigate through the overwhelming justice system.

Position Summary: 

This role focuses on recruiting, onboarding, coordinating, and supporting volunteers, as well as building community relationships to increase referrals and program awareness.The Coordinator works closely with the Executive Committee to ensure operational goals are met and that volunteers have the guidance and resources needed to support program participants effectively.

The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, community-focused, and passionate about supporting young women and families.They are comfortable working with volunteers, collaborating with community partners, and helping participants navigate complex systems with compassion and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment & Management

  • Recruit new volunteers and promote involvement in the program

  • Collect volunteer applications, resumes, references, and required background checks

  • Interview and onboard new volunteers

  • Maintain organized volunteer records and files

  • Coordinate volunteer activities and communications

Volunteer Support & Coordination

  • Send reminders for training sessions, meetings, and reporting requirements

  • Coordinate volunteer meetings and training opportunities

  • Facilitate the Debrief & Share Meeting every two months

  • Coordinate volunteer appreciation initiatives

Client & Community Outreach

  • Recruit new program participants

  • Build relationships with community agencies and referral partners

  • Provide program information through presentations, email, social media, and in-person outreach

Program Administration

  • Maintain volunteer and client documentation

  • Collect volunteer expense claims and submit them to the Treasurer

  • Collect and organize volunteer contact notes for client files

  • Gather program statistics related to volunteers and clients

Referral & Case Coordination

  • Receive and organize program referrals and court orders

  • Coordinate volunteers to support referrals and service delivery

  • Assist with scheduling and organizing sharing circles

  • Support report drafting and court-related representation when required

Reporting

  • Submit written and verbal reports to the Executive Committee every two months

  • Track and submit time sheets

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising or managing volunteers

  • Strong presentation or public speaking skills

  • Experience networking and building community relationships

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

  • Experience with report writing

  • Advocacy and interpersonal communication skills

  • Non-judgmental, approachable, and collaborative personality

  • Knowledge of community resources

Assets:

  • Knowledge of court procedures and protocols

  • Familiarity with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act 

  • Knowledge of and experience with various community resources and programing
