Salary: Coordinator 1 or Coordinator 2, dependent on experience $59,135.82-$61,599.57/year, plus benefits
Job type: Full time, permanent (30 hour work week)
Desired start date: June 15, 2026
Location: Greater Victoria Area
Dogwood brings people together to transform our democracy, uphold Indigenous rights and defend the climate, land and water that sustain life in B.C. With our allies, we work to break free from fossil fuels and counter corporate influence on our democracy and rising right-wing narratives. All of this work takes place on unceded, stolen Indigenous territories amidst ongoing colonial violence, racial injustices and profound wealth inequalities. Thus, Dogwood will contribute, always, to the generations-long project of repairing the injustices of colonialism and dismantling systems of oppression.
Dogwood is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization. We currently have 14 staff members, sustaining a network of over 100,000 supporters and anchoring volunteer teams in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island.
We believe that organized people have the power to shift what’s possible in B.C., by building towards and seizing tipping points where we can lock in lasting change. Dogwood’s organizing program builds power and community through outreach, action and solidarity.
As part of our Organizing team (currently made up of the director and two staff organizers), you will be responsible for volunteer engagement and event coordination in the Victoria area. You’ll support our South Island volunteer team and work with allies to push our province beyond fossil fuels and act in solidarity with Indigenous people and communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.
Other personal strengths, knowledge, lived experience, training or aptitudes in these areas would be considered additional assets in this role and we encourage you to highlight them in your application.
This position requires continuous hours of work at a computer (most days); meetings with volunteers and allies at locations around Victoria (average 2-5 per month); and attending in-person events that may require continuous hours of standing or walking, and lifting/carrying materials and equipment (average 1 per month, with some busier months).
Dogwood offers a flexible, rewarding and unionized work environment including four weeks paid vacation starting in your first year; health, dental and paramedical benefits; and a baseline 30-hour work week. Some evening and weekend work is required. While the successful candidate should live in the South Island region, the position could be primarily remote, primarily based in Dogwood’s Victoria office, or hybrid.
Only short-listed candidates will be contacted after the closing of the posting period. The application process for this position may include interviews, work samples or other exercises to assess relevant skills. The hiring committee aims to make a hiring decision by June 15.
Dogwood is committed to becoming a workplace where people of diverse identities, backgrounds and abilities want to work and feel safe working. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply including Black, Indigenous and people of colour; people of all gender identities and abilities. Dogwood does not discriminate based on race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, political belief, age, gender, sexual orientation or class.
