About Elements Society

We’re on a mission to inspire environmental action through education. Our interdisciplinary, action-oriented programs equip learners with the skills they need to take environmental action at home, school and in the community.

About the Role

Do you love food, storytelling, and the planet? Elements Society is looking for a creative and motivated Digital Marketing Specialist to join our team for the summer.

A significant focus of this role is EcoCooks - a hands-on environmental food literacy program co-delivered with Unbounded Canada Foundation, inspiring learners across BC and Alberta to connect their food choices to climate action. You'll also support Elements Society's broader suite of environmental education programs, including Zero Waste Place, Journey to Zero Waste, and FERN, our environmental education database.

This is a chance to build real digital marketing skills while doing work that matters.

What You Will Do

You'll work with our communications and program teams to create content, tell stories, and help grow our digital presence across EcoCooks and Elements Society programs. Exact tasks will depend on your experience and interests but could include:

  • Develop and maintain a content calendar for the placement, covering social media, newsletters, and blog posts across EcoCooks and Elements programs

  • Create social media content (posts, reels, stories) including batched content for holidays, key stats, and high-programming seasons

  • Support social media strategy by standardizing graphics and maintaining consistent visual identity across channels

  • Photograph and/or film workshops and program activities to capture program impact

  • Draft blog posts, recipe features, and newsletter copy

  • Support the improvement and optimization of website, including updating content, refining page layouts, enhancing user experience, and ensuring information is current and engaging

  • Assist with implementing website enhancement strategies to improve functionality, accessibility, and overall performance

  • Conduct basic SEO optimization, including keyword research, metadata updates, image alt text, and on-page SEO improvements to increase search visibility and web traffic

  • Research, plan, and help execute a digital fundraising campaign including messaging, target audiences, donation page updates, email and social outreach, campaign assets, and performance tracking

  • Track social media and newsletter analytics and summarize findings for the team

  • Contribute to EcoCooks and Elements impact reports (data gathering, narrative writing, visual layout)

Who You Are

  • You're a strong communicator with an eye for visuals and a knack for storytelling

  • You're comfortable (or excited to learn) creating content for Instagram or similar platforms

  • You care about the environment, food systems, and/or sustainability

  • You're organized, self-directed, and enjoy collaborating with a small team

  • Experience with Canva, Squarespace, Wix, video editing tools, MailerLite and/or MailChimp is an asset but not required

  • Able to work from home with reliable access to a computer and internet connection
