About Rangers Reach:

Rangers Reach (Kitchener Rangers Community Fund) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that raises and distributes funds for charitable programs in Waterloo Region. The Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club launched Rangers Reach (RR) in 2020, as a means of streamlining and formalizing its long tradition of giving back to the community.  Through 50/50 draws and prize raffles at Kitchener Rangers home games, among other efforts, Rangers Reach has raised over $1.5 million in the 2025-2026 season. The proceeds are granted to local charities, including food banks, mental health organizations, minor sports associations, scholarships and more. Through its first six years of operations, Rangers Reach has grown to be one of the most successful 50/50 programs in the Ontario Hockey League.

 

About the role:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Rangers Reach staff, volunteers, programs, granting and community investments, and partnerships. The ED maintains a deep knowledge of core programs, operations, business plans, and community needs.  This is a full-time, hybrid role, with a requirement to be on site for Kitchener Rangers home games during the regular season (September – March), as well as any home playoff games, for at least the first year.  

 

The Board of Directors is searching for a leader who can build on the existing solid foundation and deepen the fund’s community investment approach, while also growing its local presence and engagement.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide the vision, direction, inspiration and motivation necessary to guarantee the organization’s overall success
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and high-quality revenue generation, granting, community investment, finance and communications activities.
  • Actively recruit, engage and energize Rangers Reach volunteers, committee members, and partnering organizations.
  • Oversee and strengthen game-day operations (logistics, infrastructure and personnel related to 50/50 draws, merchandise raffles, etc.) and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Develop, manage and evaluate a rigorous yet accessible granting process.
  • Identify, and implement where appropriate, opportunities for strategic community investments that align with the goals of Rangers Reach and the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club.
  • As the key representative of Rangers Reach, foster and maintain positive relationships in the community, to advance the charitable activities of both Rangers Reach and the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club.

 

About you:

  • Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and relationship management skills.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to set and achieve strategic objectives, manage a budget, and supervise volunteers and staff.
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and/or fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of partners and cultures.
  • A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project and partnership development skills.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, self-directed with an innovative approach to business planning.
  • Familiarity with regulations and processes relating to charitable lotteries as established by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a considerable asset.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, discretion, and a deep commitment to community.
  • An interest in hockey is a definite asset.

What we offer:

This is a full-time position with a compensation package that includes:

  • Salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 annually
  • Benefits package including medical, life insurance, and long-term disability
  • 3 weeks vacation per year, plus 5 personal days
  • A hybrid and flexible work environment.  The demands of the position are cyclical, with heightened activity in the fall and winter and considerably more flexibility over the summer.
