Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, Health Promotion & Community Support, the Community Service Worker - Outreach will support community outreach, affordable housing awareness, and social inclusion initiatives for priority population. The role focuses on engaging residents, facilitating community activities, promoting housing education, and helping reduce social isolation among seniors, newcomers, and vulnerable community members.
This position is community-focused. The student will support group-based activities, outreach efforts, resident engagement, and community development initiatives that promote health equity and community wellbeing.
Primary Responsibilities
• Support community education initiatives related to affordable housing and tenant rights.
• Assist with organizing housing information sessions and awareness campaigns.
• Help identify emerging housing concerns and community needs through outreach and engagement.
• Participate in local meetings, forums, or advocacy activities related to housing and social wellbeing.
• Build relationships with residents, local organizations, and community partners.
• Build relationships with residents, local organizations, and community partners.
• Collaborate with community organizations, service providers, and local stakeholders.
• Support resident-led initiatives and volunteer engagement activities.
• Assist with gathering community feedback and documenting outreach activities.
• Promote inclusive, welcoming, and culturally responsive community spaces.
• Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and program participation.
• Assist with preparation of program materials, flyers, and community resources.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and organizational activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Must be between the ages of 18 and 30.
• Currently registered as a full-time student at a recognized post-secondary institution during the previous academic year, with plans to return to school in September 2026.
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed post-secondary education in social services, community development, management, public health, social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or other relevant graphic design tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in community engagement, affordable housing, health equity, and social inclusion.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
• Comfortable engaging with seniors, newcomers, and vulnerable populations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Solid working knowledge of and ability to navigate a Windows PC environment.
• Creative and passionate with a desire to learn, roll up their sleeves and lead with a client-centred approach and self-motivated mindset.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively and respectfully in a collaborative, inter-professional team environment.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to the changing needs of the organization.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and effective public speaking skills.
• Self-directed and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

• Experience and accuracy using database applications.
• Ability to learn new software quickly and willingness to continuously develop technical and interpersonal skills.
