Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for an individual wanting to join a Community Bridge Program. Are you ready to be our Community Bridge Support Worker and make an impact in our community?

About The Job

The Community Bridge program provides rapid response interventions that stop an imminent eviction and provide supports to ensure the root causes of the eviction are effectively addressed in order to prevent re-occurrence.

What You’ll Bring? 

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Science or related discipline
  • Minimum of one-year related employment experience
  • Familiarity and an understanding of Indigenous cultures and history.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, result oriented, good time management, strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate a high competency in computer systems. Word, Excel, Outlook, web-based video streaming platforms, web applications including internet forms, electronic signature software, Microsoft Bookings, and database programs are all used extensively in the day-to-day work of this position.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Familiarity with issues of poverty, homelessness, and Edmonton’s urban core. As well working with high-risk populations.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact?

  • Support individuals and families at risk of homelessness by providing housing stabilization, eviction prevention, advocacy, and financial coaching supports
  • Assist participants in accessing community resources, income supports, health services, and housing-related programs
  • Provide individualized support, goal planning, budgeting assistance, and life skills development to promote long-term housing stability
  • Manage a participant caseload, provide referrals and follow-up support, and collaborate with community partners and service providers
  • Facilitate workshops, provide in-person support at the Service Hub and within the community, and travel regularly for participant support and service delivery
