Compassionate Neighbours wish to hire a Seniors Social Program Coordinator for 20 hours/week to assume the responsibility of acting as the Society’s Programs Coordinator for Seniors Social Programs.

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Program Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing Monthly Take-out Social Meals for Community Seniors and Apartment Group Seniors Meals, the Friendly Visitors program, the Intergenerational programs, the Seniors Connect Café events, and the Intimate Partner Loss Social Support Project.

This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people. The Coordinator will work closely with other staff members, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the successful execution of programs.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Executive Director or their designate, the key duties and responsibilities of the Seniors Social Programs Coordinator are:

1.      Preparing, carrying out, and coordinating the volunteer and senior shared social meals and the Apartment senior resident group social meals aspects of the Enhanced Social Meal Program including matching new volunteers and seniors in this program.

2.      Preparing, coordinating and leading the weekly Thursday Seniors Connect Café events.

3.      Registering and ensuring seniors are confirmed for the bi-weekly Saturday Intergenerational cooking classes and sending the information to our Chilliwack Community Services partners in a timely manner.

4.      Responsible for all aspects of the Friendly Visitor Program including follow-up with volunteers and seniors working in the program, and with matching of new seniors with new volunteers in coordination with the Compassionate Neighbours Volunteer Coordinator.

5.      Receiving and processing all new referrals for both the Friendly Visitor Program and for all group social events.

6.      Preparing, coordinating, and leading the twice monthly Tuesday afternoon Intergenerational Craft/Board games events

7.      Preparing, coordinating and co-facilitating the Intimate Partner Loss Social Support project.

8.      Ensure all work performed aligns with the organisation’s core values, mission, and goals.

9.      Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications: 

•         Strong and dynamic leadership style and management background. Leads with enthusiasm. Experience in a non-profit environment, is an asset.

•         Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to a participatory leadership style.

•         Excellent communication and public relations skills, both oral and written.

•         Has a collaborative style of communication and is skilled in interacting with diverse people and groups.

•         Proficiency in database or spreadsheet management and Microsoft products.

•         Knowledge of central documentation in google shared drives is an asset.

•         Must have a Class 5 or Class 7 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.

 Working Hours and Location: This is a part-time Coordinator position of 20 hours/week, Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 2:30pm, with a half hour unpaid lunch break, except twice monthly when the Intergenerational board games/craft events are taking place, to work from 12pm to 5pm, understanding that the lunch break will take place before commencing work on these dates. The programs take place in the Chilliwack area.  

Salary: This is a part-time position of 20 hours/week at $22/hour and does not permit paid overtime hours, unless previously approved by the Executive Director or their designate.

•         The employee shall serve a probationary period of 3 months from the commencement of their employment.
