Hope Mission is a Christian non-profit social care agency that has been serving vulnerable people in Alberta since 1929. We are one of Alberta’s largest social service agencies and currently operate emergency shelters, addiction recovery programs, youth programs, community outreach services, housing programs, and health programs (delivered through our HopeHealth division) across Edmonton, Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, and beyond. Position Summary
The Community Revitalization Staff member plays an important role in supporting the broader environment in which Hope Mission operates. This position focuses on helping maintain clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces surrounding Hope Mission sites, while also supporting the organization in building and maintaining strong, positive relationships with neighbouring businesses, residents, and community partners. Through daily presence and respectful engagement, this role promotes safety, harmony, and dignity in shared community spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Site Cleanliness & Exterior Maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness and overall presentation of Hope Mission sites and surrounding neighbourhood areas.
• Conduct regular garbage pickup and general site clean-up to ensure the area remains safe, clean, and welcoming.
• Ensure the site and surrounding areas and business operations always remain presentable.
• Perform seasonal maintenance duties, including pressure washing buildings and surrounding business sidewalks in summer, and snow removal and winter clean-up for Hope Mission sites and surrounding business sidewalks to maintain safe walkways and access points.
• Coordinate with shelter staff to organize and schedule larger maintenance tasks (such as seasonal street sweeps or building pressure washing) to ensure the safety of community members as cleaning activities are conducted.
Community Relations & Engagement
• Engage in respectful, kind, and professional interactions with community members as tasks are executed.
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with neighbouring businesses and residents to support community harmony.
• Uphold and demonstrate Hope Mission’s core values in all aspects of work.
Safety & Emergency Response
• Activate appropriate response plan for community members in apparent distress or crisis.
Administration & Reporting
• Inform supervisor when supplies are running low and assist in creating purchase orders (POs) for required supplies.
• Provide regular updates to supervisors regarding ongoing activities, observed trends, and any concerns arising from day-to-day work.
• Attend team meetings to help identify priority areas, plan cleaning schedules, and support ongoing improvements for community upkeep and safety.

• Support fellow team members while contributing to daily responsibilities and organizational goals.
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

• Ensure tasks are completed safely, effectively, and according to Hope Mission standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Experience working with vulnerable populations or in community outreach is an asset.
• Comfortable working with individuals experiencing homelessness and other complex social challenges.
• Valid driver’s licence is preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Trauma-informed and compassionate approach to service delivery.
• Basic computer skills, including sending emails and creating purchase orders (POs).
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and dynamic work environments.
Physical Requirements
• Physical stamina to stand and work outdoors for extended periods of time in all seasons.

Other Requirements
• As a Christian organization, Hope Mission requires employees to sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
• Able to provide a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search.
• A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset.
• Adherence to Hope Mission’s policies and procedures.
