The Manager, Institutional Funding & Partnerships plays a key role in building and strengthening the organization’s institutional funding pipeline. This includes identifying, developing, and securing funding from bilateral, multilateral, foundation, and corporate donors.
This role is highly strategic and collaborative, contributing to a disciplined, pipeline-driven fundraising approach while working closely with programme, finance, and Advancement teams. You will take ownership of the institutional (non-corporate) funding pipeline and help drive long-term partnerships that support sustainable growth.
1. Pipeline Development & Opportunity Identification
• Proactively research, identify, and qualify new institutional funding opportunities aligned with strategic priorities
• Build and maintain a strong, forward-looking funding pipeline

• Support the development and nurturing of strategic institutional relationships
• Collaborate internally to position the organization as a credible and preferred partner
• Contribute to building long-term partnerships rather than one-off funding engagements
3. Proposal Development & Submission
• Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality concept notes and proposals
• Collaborate with programme and finance teams to ensure strong programme design, competitive positioning, compliant and realistic budgets and support timely submission and follow-up with donors
4. Donor Stewardship & Reporting
• Coordinate and support donor reporting requirements
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements in collaboration with internal teams
• Support ongoing donor relationship management and stewardship
5. Strategy Implementation
• Contribute to the institutional fundraising strategy
• Translate strategy into actionable annual plans and targets
• Ensure alignment between pipeline development and organizational priorities
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:

• The ability to shape and grow a robust institutional funding pipeline
• A role that blends strategy, relationship-building, and proposal development
• Minimum 5 years of experience in institutional fundraising, partnerships, or business development
• Proven experience working with institutional donors (e.g., GAC, FCDO, IDRC, UN agencies, foundations)
• Demonstrated success in proposal development and partnership building
• Strong understanding of the institutional funding landscape
• Experience with Proposal and concept note writing, Budget development, Stakeholder coordination
• Familiarity with prospect research tools
• Experience using CRM systems
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (or equivalent experience)
