Hope Mission is a Christian non-profit social care agency that has been serving vulnerable people in Alberta since 1929. We are one of Alberta’s largest social service agencies and currently operate emergency shelters, addiction recovery programs, youth programs, community outreach services, housing programs, and health programs (delivered through our HopeHealth division) across Edmonton, Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, and beyond. Hope Health delivers a variety of health services to clients utilizing Hope Mission’s shelter services. The Rapid Response Team provides frontline emergency medical care within and around Hope Mission’s shelter sites, working alongside nursing staff, recovery coaches, and community partners to serve individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and complex medical needs. EMR/MFR team members work in high-acuity environments and play a critical role in connecting clients to appropriate care and keeping shelter spaces safe.
The Emergency Medical Responder or Medical First Responder (EMR/MFR) is responsible for responding to medical emergencies and providing urgent medical care throughout downtown Edmonton. This position serves vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, and complex medical needs, while supporting Hope Mission’s commitment to compassionate care and community safety.
You will work closely with outreach teams, shelters, healthcare providers, and emergency services to assess, treat, and coordinate care for clients in crisis. The role includes frontline emergency response, patient advocacy, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team operating in high-acuity and fast-paced environments. You will work alongside two Primary Care Paramedics and a health advocate.
