Outreach Officer (20 hrs/week, contract July 2026 – June 2027) 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic and organized individual to join our team as a Outreach Officer as part of a joint project between the Yellow Door (YD) Entraide Bénévole Métro (EBM), two organizations providing essential support services to seniors in downtown Montréal.  

 

Both organizations aim to reduce isolation and help older adults remain active, autonomous, and connected to their communities. EBM serves seniors aged 60 and over who are experiencing loss of autonomy, helping them remain at home and linked to vital services. The YD engages seniors aged 55+ and youth volunteers through intergenerational connections, in-home volunteer services, and wellness programs.  

 

The Outreach Officer will work to increase awareness of the services offered by the YD and EBM within the local community health network and the wider downtown community. They will collaborate with program staff to strengthen outreach to isolated, at-risk seniors, including building relationships with CLSCs, CIUSSSs, and other community partners who refer seniors to our services. The Outreach Officer will also support both organizations in their efforts to recruit dedicated, available, experienced volunteers. Finally, they will develop a practical resource map for both organizations to use in better supporting their members.  

 

RESPONSIBILTIES 

Program Outreach 

  • Work collaboratively with all project staff at both organizations to execute a comprehensive outreach plan 

  • Carry out both in-person and online outreach methods, including postering, distributing flyers, and coordinating meetings/presentations with key community stakeholders 

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the capacities and services offered by each project partner, and how these compliment other services offered downtown. 

  • Respond to phone calls, emails as needed; attend regular meetings as part of the community network. 

  • Work to build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders within the local health and community network. 

  • Actively listen and seek feedback, adjusting the “outreach presentation” to improve communications with key stakeholders. 

  • Investigate and implement creative ways to increase community engagement, both online and in-person to reach isolated seniors, and to increase volunteer participation. 

  • Anticipate the needs of the project in terms of outreach, and work understand the wider scope of project, react and adjust goals accordingly. 

  • Support both organizations in their efforts to recruit experienced, dedicated, and flexible volunteers: posting volunteers roles, following up with candidates, passing their interest to the relevant organization.  

  • Explore creative approaches to volunteer recruitment. 

  • Create and maintain an updated map of relevant resources for seniors within the service areas of both organizations. 

 

Other Tasks/Responsibilities 

  • Attend all project and staff meetings at both YD & EBM 

  • Actively communicate & remain transparent with YD & EBM Program Coordinators  

  • Track all project data in a clear and useful manner. 

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, e.g. social work, non-profit management, public administration 

  • Fluent spoken and written French and English is essential 

  • Must be highly organized; able to work independently; creative and resourceful 

  • Experience in the non-profit sector and/or working with vulnerable populations, an asset 

  • Fluent understanding of the Windows environment, MS Office software, & Canva is required; experience with CRM software an asset. 

 

The hour salary is set at $21.50 for 20 hours per week; hybrid work environment, with approximately 75% of hours in-person each week; starting early July 2026, 12-month contract with 6% vacation pay, plus personal days.
