The Children’s Book Bank is a registered charity providing free books and literacy programs to children across Toronto, helping improve literacy rates and support stronger educational and socioeconomic outcomes for children and families.

Position Summary

The Fundraising & Development Coordinator supports the growth and sustainability of The Children’s Book Bank by supporting compelling grant proposals and strategic fundraising initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in nonprofit development and communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Book Bank’s Grant Writer by researching grant opportunities, drafting grant proposals, and preparing supporting documents based on funding requirements.
  • Support individual giving campaigns and donor outreach initiatives.
  • Draft and format stewardship letters, donor reports, and thank-you communications.
  • Conduct donor and prospect research and maintain accurate donor records within the database.
  • Track fundraising activities and assist with reporting on campaign progress and outcomes.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for fundraising events and online campaigns.
  • Support communications efforts through content creation, coordination, proofreading, and research.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience or internship exposure in a nonprofit, fundraising, communications, or administrative setting.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to contribute to grant applications and donor communications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems is considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interest in children’s literacy and a commitment to supporting literacy as a pathway to education and opportunity.
