Summary of Corporate Communications & Member Services Co-op role:

Ready to kick-start your career in communications and tourism? Destination Greater Victoria (DGV) is looking for an enthusiastic Corporate Communications & Member Services Co-op to join our team in beautiful Victoria, BC. In this hands-on role, you will dive into the world of corporate communications, helping craft compelling content for newsletters, media releases, LinkedIn, and our website. You will play an active role in planning and delivering member events, from networking mixers to workshops and training sessions. Along the way, you will sharpen your writing, build media relations skills, learn to track performance metrics, and gain experience with member data management. With mentorship from experienced professionals and exposure to a wide range of real-world projects, this co-op is your opportunity to grow, contribute, and make a meaningful impact in Victoria's vibrant tourism community.

This is an in-person role, requiring the successful candidate to be located in the Greater Victoria region. It is a full-time 4-month co-op position, 35 hours per week. The hourly wage is $22.50.

What you need to bring:

  • Working towards completion of a degree or diploma in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Management, Community Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, formatting, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Basic understanding of communications principles, including newsletters and media relations.
  • Ability to create or support the development of simple AI agents or automation tools is considered an asset.
  • Experience writing, formatting and creating content for e-newsletters or similar publications is a strong asset.
  • Experience with data entry and management.
  • Efficient and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Positive, solution-focused attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in communications and data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Planner, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Copilot to support drafting, research, and workflow efficiency is an asset
