Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for a Manager, Community Engagement & Partnerships to join our dedicated Resource Development team as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty. How You’ll Make an Impact?
The Manager, Community Engagement & Partnerships leads Bissell Centre’s community-facing engagement portfolio. This role oversees volunteer engagement, community partnerships, events, and department administration so that community members, businesses, groups, schools, volunteers, and supporters have meaningful ways to connect with Bissell Centre. The role requires strong community engagement, facilitation, relationship-building, team leadership, and cross-department collaboration skills.
• Lead annual planning, priorities, workplans, budgets, and reporting for the community engagement and partnerships portfolio.
• Supervise, coach, and support department team members by providing day-to-day leadership, setting clear expectations, supporting professional growth, addressing barriers, and ensuring staff have the tools, direction, and feedback needed to be successful.
• Design, lead, and support community engagement activities, partner meetings, presentations, tours, feedback sessions, workshops, and facilitated conversations.
• Provide oversight to the volunteer engagement program, including recruitment, onboarding, staff training, recognition, retention, stewardship, policies, and volunteer data practices.
• Build strong working relationships with Program leaders, Marketing and Communications, Finance, Facilities, Operations, Leadership Team members, and other internal partners.
What You’ll Bring?
• Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, community development, social work, communications, public relations, volunteer management, fundraising, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in community engagement, nonprofit leadership, volunteer engagement, fundraising, events, partnerships, or related work.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising staff, leading teams, or providing formal team leadership.
• Experience facilitating groups, community conversations, workshops, engagement sessions, or cross-functional planning processes.
