The Yellow Door is an intergenerational community organization dedicated to promoting well-being and reducing social isolation through inclusive programs, activities, and volunteer opportunities. Our Wellness Groups Program offers free activities that bring together people of all ages, incomes, and backgrounds to foster creativity, connection, health, and community engagement. 

We are looking for a collaborative, organized, and enthusiastic Program Assistant to join our close-knit team. Reporting to the Wellness Groups Program Coordinator, this role has two primary areas of responsibility: (i) supporting the planning and delivery of the Wellness Groups Program and (ii) coordinating Project VoisinAgewhich aims to bring activities to seniors living in three low-income residents in downtown Montreal. Every member of the Yellow Door team plays an important role in advancing our missionwe are seeking someone who is excited to contribute their skills, ideas, and energy to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces for our community.  

Program Assistant (20 hours/week) 

  • Help keep our community spaces neat and ready for participants and volunteers. 

  • Disseminate outreach materials (event posters, calendars)promoting wellness groups to new and existing participantsengage with other community groups in the areadevelop creative ideas for outreach with the goal of increasing participation. 

  • Assist with training and managing Wellness Group volunteers. 

  • Assist with all program communications (phoneemail, mail) to senior members, volunteers, and participants. 

  • Enter data and update records in our CRM as neededcomplete monthly reportsassist with the collection of program data and statistics.  

  • Assist with the creation and review of monthly activity calendars (print and online)assist with online outreach as needed, ensure that groups are promoted weekly. 

  • Attend weekly activities (Tech Cafe, French Literature, Durocher Market), helping to facilitate welcoming spaces and to support volunteers; coordinate/facilitate the 55+ Community Hour, as needed. 

  • Play a role in organizing special events, including volunteer appreciationoutings, and special events for members throughout the year. 

  • Maintain transparency and open communications with the Program Coordinator; attend staff meetings and work collaboratively with all other team members. 

  • Manage the Wellness Groups program when the Wellness Groups Coordinator is absent. 

 

 

Facilitator, Project VoisinAge (15 hours/week) 

  • Develop schedule of engaging, varied activities in the 3 senior residents; work to receive feedback from participants on the various activities. 

  • Collaborate with community partners, resident committees, and the OMHM and/or HLM management to establish and maintain good working relationships. 

  • Develop and distribute effective outreach materials (posters, flyers, etc.); implement outreach methods in a timely and effective manner within, and possibly around the buildings. 

  • Implement creative ideas to increase participation of senior residents in the project. 

  • Fully understand and actively promote community & health services to residents through various means; communicate with strategic partners to ensure that various services are accessible to residents. 

  • Assist with referring seniors to YD servicesscreen seniors for membership as needed. 

  • Develop and implement workplan for advocacy work, as needed by residents. 

  • Train and support project volunteers.  

  • Develop and implement creative ways for volunteers and seniors to engage during sessions.  

  • Maintain open and transparent communication all project partners, working closely with upper management and other staff as needed. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • CEGEP diploma/Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g. gerontology, social services, etc). 

  • Fluent spoken and written French and English is required.  

  • Must have great people skills, be outgoing and love to socialize (most of the workday will be spent interacting with members of the YD community)be highly organized, flexible, dynamic, able to prioritize and multitask, able to work independently, be creative and resourceful. 

  • Must be comfortable facilitating and leading communications with various groups (email, in-person, phone, community meetings, Zoom). 

  • Fluent understanding of the Windows environment and MS Office software e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publishing, is required. 

  • Experience in volunteer management, managerial experience, and/or working with seniors or vulnerable populations, an asset.  

  • Experience with data entry, statistics, an asset. 

  • Driver’s licence, an asset. 

 

The contract is for 6-months with the possibility to renew; the anticipated start date is mid August 2026. The role is 30 hours/week (approximately 80% of hours in-person) with an hourly wage of $22.04 to $23.04 dependent upon experience; 6% vacation pay, plus paid office closures during holidays, personal days and flex time.
