Foundation Dents-de-Lion is developing a special Fund for launch in 2027 to support local community welfare, shared ownership, and circular economy projects. This Fund will be participatory, with decisions made by individuals with expertise in the areas or regions being funded.

The Participatory Fund Coordinator will be working collaboratively with the Director of Programs at Dents-de-Lion in: finalizing the Fund design, recruiting and training selection committee members, supporting applicants, and facilitating and stewarding the selection process. Specific responsibilities and objectives:

  • Carrying out research on similar funds to the one in development
  • Carrying out research on existing community welfare, local economy, and/or mutual aid groups across Canada
  • Outreach to organizations to make connections pre-application opening (including supporting with circulation of Fund call-out)
  • Collaborating on identification and recruitment of selection committee members
  • Supporting with application process, selection process, and training design
  • Supporting with reviewing applications to the Fund
  • Supporting with selection process implementation

As part of this position, time will also be allocated for the Participatory Fund Coordinator to create, design, and run their own research project related to and feeding DdL’s main two focus areas of Justice and the New Economy.

Position Description

  • 18month contract
  • The hours of this position are flexible and relative to the project timeline. The total average is 8 hours per week, however “high periods” of the Fund may reach 25 hours and “low periods” might go down to 5 hours.
    • As part of negotiation, the Coordinator will decide with the Dents-de-Lion team whether they prefer an invoice-based contract or a fixed contract with timesheets to manage hours
  • $57-$77/hr commensurate on experience
    • There are no fixed health benefits to this position, as they have been considered in the salary range.
  • 3 weeks paid vacation + a 2 week paid winter closure

The candidate should expect some domestic travel across the Fund’s priority regions
