Community Links, a provincial non-profit and registered charity is a for-impact organization that has been dedicated to supporting its vision that all Nova Scotians age well in their communities since 1992 Applications are invited for an Executive Director to advance the organizations vision and priorities which include:   

  • Collaborating with senior serving organizations to strengthen and build their individual and collective capacity to support older Nova Scotians, 
  • Increasing awareness of issues affecting older Nova Scotians as well as the role they have in their families and communities,  
  • Advocating to make age friendly changes at the community level. 

The Role: 

The Community Links Board requires an experienced, dynamic, and collaborative Executive Director to advance its operations and sustainability while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence 

Currently reporting to a Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) role will further the organizations vision and mission through long-term, strategic thinking to assist the Board in identifying the most effective means of achieving its vision. Fund development is a priority in this role as well as managing and mentoring a team dedicated to fulfilling its vision.  The incumbent oversees all aspects of the work including program planning, human and fiscal management while maintaining an excellent working relationship with the organization’s funders. 


The Executive Director must build and maintain strong relationships, foster collaborations, and leverage resources to advance the sector’s goals as well as serve in advisory roles.
 

The successful applicant will
have: 

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior management position,  
  • Experience in a not-for-profit organization an asset, 
  • A university degree in a related field or an equivalency in relevant education and experience, 
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and knowledge of governance practices and standards. 
  • Ability to build and maintain strong trusting relationships, 
  • Financial and human resource management experience, 
  • Fund development experience, 
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial government programs, services, and benefits for older adults, 
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations, 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written and excellent public speaking skills, 
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

This appointment is for a period of up to three years with extensions possible, subject to continued funding.
 
The salary is currently in the range of $70,000 to $75,000, subject to education and experience, with a benefit package including health benefits and an RRSP matching program. Community Links supports work-life balance.
