Position: We are looking for developers/testers to work with our DevOps and operations/SysAdmin Teams for testing and deployment stages.Knowledge of C#, Python or Dart.

You should also know good quality assurance practices, be a good team member and pay good attention to detail.

Location: Remote (Weekly Zoom Meetings)  

About Us: 

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description: 

We are seeking skilled Beta Testers with expertise in Python and/or C# to join our Operations Team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for testing software applications, identifying bugs, and ensuring that our technology solutions meet the highest standards of quality. This role is crucial in supporting our mission by ensuring that our software tools are reliable, efficient, and user-friendly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Testing: Conduct thorough testing of software applications developed in Python and C#. This includes functional testing, regression testing, performance testing, and user acceptance testing.

  • Bug Identification: Identify, document, and track defects in the software using appropriate bug tracking tools. Work closely with developers to ensure timely resolution of issues.

  • Test Planning: Develop detailed test plans and test cases based on project requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand application functionality and user needs.

  • Automation Scripting: If applicable, create automated test scripts using Python or C# to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of test results, including test case execution reports and defect logs. Provide feedback on usability and functionality from an end-user perspective.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the development team during the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to provide input on design specifications and assist in troubleshooting issues.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in retrospectives to discuss lessons learned from each project cycle. Suggest improvements for processes related to software testing

Qualifications:

  • MUST be 18 years and above.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Software Tester or similar role with hands-on experience in Python or C# programming languages.

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum) is preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; ability to think critically about software functionality.

  • Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, pytest) is a plus but not mandatory.

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).

  • Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git).

  • Experience working within non-profit organizations or understanding their unique challenges is advantageous.
