Profile

The Director of Board Development plays a crucial role in the long-term success of Canadians For A Civil Society by leading efforts to build a strong, engaged, and diverse Board of Directors. This position requires a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • To prepare priorities for board composition,

  • To meet with prospective board members and cultivate membership,

  • To conduct orientation sessions for new board members and to organize training sessions for the entire board, and

  • To suggest new, non-board individuals for committee membership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in board development, recruitment, or related field within a non-profit or similar organization
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse individuals and groups
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Experience with board governance best practices and legal and ethical considerations
  • Preferred but not required - Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a relevant field (e.g., non-profit management, business administration, public administration, human resources, technology management)
