Board Recruitment Opportunity 

Aboriginal Counselling Services Association of Alberta (ACSA) is seeking dedicated Indigenous community members to join our Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to help guide an organization with over 30 years of service to Indigenous families and communities. 

 

About ACSA 

Established in 1992, ACSA provides culturally responsive services addressing family violence and supporting resiliency and wellness. Our approach honours the mind, body, spirit, and emotions of each person we serve. As a registered charity operating under section 9 of the Companies Act, ACSA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Healthy, strong, and vital Aboriginal families and communities honouring the mind, body, spirit, and emotions. 

 

 

Our Mission 

To provide safe new pathways to healing and wellness that will strengthen Aboriginal families and communities. 

 

 

Board Responsibilities 

The ACSA Board meets quarterly (aligned with the changing of seasons) to: 

  • Provide governance oversight and strategic direction 

  • Support organizational goals and sustainability 

  • Join a passionate team with diverse professional backgrounds 

  • Uphold ACSA's vision, mission, and values  

  • Support our Executive Director 

  • Help ensure the sustainability and growth of our programs 

 

 

What We're Looking For 

We seek passionate Indigenous community members with diverse skills and experience to join our Board. Ideal candidates will: 

  • Bring professional expertise in mental health, Indigenous services, finance, law, or organizational leadership 

  • Understand impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma 

  • Commit to quarterly meetings and occasional events 

  • Share our commitment to Indigenous families and communities 

 

 

Strategic Priorities 

  1. Ensuring programs respond to current family needs

  2. Increasing staff development opportunities
  3. Ensuring organizational sustainability
  4. Fostering collaborative Board-Executive Director relationships
