Big Sisters:

The Big Sisters program connects self-identifying girls, non-binary, transgender, and gender-diverse youth (aged 7-17) with caring adult mentors in one-on-one relationships. These connections provide support, guidance, and a positive role model to help youth navigate life’s challenges.

Over the course of at least one year, Big and Little matches meet for 2-4 hours each week. Together, they enjoy fun activities like crafting, attending events, or simply spending time talking. Every relationship is unique, but all provide the support youth need to grow.

The key benefits of the Big Sisters program for girls and gender-diverse youth:

  • Boosted self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Development of leadership skills and independence
  • Healthier relationships with peers and family
  • Improved school engagement and success

Mentors provide support, connection and a positive role model to youth; helping them to have fun while understanding and realizing their full potential.

Big Sisters is accepting applications across the Lower Mainland, but we are in high need of volunteers who live or are willing to travel to:
- Surrey
- Richmond
- Tri-cities
- White Rock
- Delta
