The 2026 MS Bike - Cowichan is taking place Saturday, August 8. The ride starts and ends at Queen Margaret's School (660 Brownsey Ave, Duncan, BC), with several rest stops along the way.

MS Bike is an energizing challenge you can feel good about. Going the distance makes a difference and every kilometer ridden brings us closer to a world free of multiple sclerosis. By volunteering, you'll play a crucial role in making this event a success while having fun, meeting new people, and supporting people affected by MS.

These events would not be possible without the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers donating their time. Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles to help ensure a smooth event and provide an exceptional experience for cyclists as they ride to raise funds to support those affected by MS:

The Rest Stop Coordinator will work closely with the team at MS Canada to establish a safe ride for participants by ensuring access to well-equipped rest stops.   

Responsibilities :  

- Work with the staff lead and Route Coordinator to determine rest stop locations  

- Approach rest stops with request, and ensure agreement is signed and followed through  

- Assist with packaging rest stop supply boxes  

- Make sure rest stops are set up with the necessities  

- Plan, acquire, and confirm rest stop set up supplies   

- Ensure volunteers are cheerleading for cyclists as they come through and relaying any relevant information   

- Confirm volunteers are cleaning and packing up when finished   

- Make sure recovery zones are set up with the necessities, route maps, basic first aid kit   

Interested? Here’s what we’re looking for:  

- Energized and positive attitude. A friendly face helps create a fun atmosphere!  

- Strong leadership, communication, organizational and customer service skills  

- Passion for supporting the MS Community and funding MS research  

- Basic computer proficiency including email, internet searches, Word, Excel  

- Self-motivated and reliable; able to fulfill duties on time  

- Must be comfortable making decisions and problem solving with limited supervision  

- Previous experience managing people is considered an asset  

- Ability to perform physical labour along with heavy lifting  

- Must be comfortable making decisions and problem solving with limited supervision    
  

Time Commitment:   

Attend 1.5 hour long monthly committee meetings before the event from February through August

Be onsite for the event weekend providing support and leadership to event day volunteers   

Meetings and work related to your role encompass approximately 5-10 hours/month depending on the role and size of event. Hours will increase as the event approaches
