The Canadian Association of Hepatology Nurses (CAHN) is seeking a volunteer Board Member with experience in marketing and communications to join our national Board of Directors.

About CAHN

CAHN is a national professional organization that supports and promotes hepatology nurses and health care professionals with an interest in the care of people who are at risk for or living with liver-related conditions. Our mission is to advance the science and practice of hepatology nursing in Canada through the promotion of clinical excellence and leadership, facilitation of knowledge sharing and networking opportunities, and advocacy for equitable policies and practices that address the social and structural determinants of health.

About This Opportunity

Integral to this period of transformation and implementation of our new strategic plan, CAHN is looking for a new member to join our Board of Directors. We are specifically interested in someone who has the capacity to take on a leadership role on the Board and has experience in one or more of the following areas: public relations, marketing, communications, and stakeholder engagement.

 

We have recently launched our 2026-2028 Strategic Plan, and we are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to help support its implementation and strengthen our visibility and engagement across Canada.

 

As a Board Member with communications and marketing expertise, you will:

  • Provide strategic advice on branding, communications, and marketing initiatives

  • Support promotion of CAHN programs, events, and resources

  • Help increase member engagement and external awareness of CAHN

  • Contribute to the ongoing implementation of CAHN’s Strategic Plan

CAHN Board of Directors

Serving on the CAHN Board of Directors is a meaningful leadership opportunity that involves the following commitments and expectations:

  • Term: Serve at least one two-year volunteer term with CAHN, with the opportunity for a subsequent term.

  • Time Commitment: Dedicate approximately 2-4 hours a week to Board activities. Time requirements for this role may vary depending on the specific responsibilities and needs.

  • Meetings: Attend monthly virtual board meetings, bi-annual in-person executive meetings, and our annual conference. 

  • Committees: Join and participate in executive committees as needed.

  • Active Participation: Engage in decision-making and support of Board projects.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or a related field

  • Is familiar with digital marketing, social media, or member engagement

  • Is collaborative, strategic, and passionate about supporting nursing and liver health

  • Has previous board or volunteer leadership experience, or an interest in developing these skills
