Treasurer (Volunteer Board Position)

Commitment: 4-6 hours per month

Role Overview

Aspire Richmond Support Society is seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. This volunteer leader will guide the organization’s financial stewardship, ensure transparency, and support long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate is a CPA with experience in financial management, nonprofit accounting, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide financial oversight and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
•Review monthly financial statements and present financial updates to the board
•Work with the Chief Executive Officer and Finance Committee to maintain strong internal controls
•Ensure accurate and timely filing of required financial documents (e.g., T3010 and other CRA filings)
•Advise on long-term financial planning and sustainability

Qualifications

•CPA designation required
•Experience in accounting, finance, or nonprofit financial management
•Strong understanding of financial statements and budgeting
•Ability to communicate financial information clearly to a diverse board
•Commitment to the mission and values of Aspire Richmond Support Society
•Prior board experience is an asset but not required
