Seniors Serving Seniors (SSS) is a registered non-profit charitable society in British Columbia that supports the well-being of seniors. We are the premier organization in connecting the information needs of seniors with relevant resources and programs. Seniors Serving Seniors is a responsive, accessible, flexible, and transparent organization.
We are seeking Board Directors that will provide leadership and strategic expertise to support the mission and vision of SSS. Our board members are passionate about the work they do and fulfill their duties through governance and hands on work.
Responsibilities:
All Board Directors
• Provide oversight and guidance to staff and volunteers to ensure the organization remains stable while fulfilling its mission and vision.
• Provide input into the development of policies and programs
• Participate in strategic planning and financial reviews
• Review and ensure compliance with contract requirements and regulations
• Review and monitor staff and organizational performance
• Support fundraising and grant proposals
• Participate in committee engagement by serving on one or more committees. Here you will share your expertise and provide guidance in areas such as finance, human resources, information technology and social media and return to health
Treasurer specific responsibilities
• With the wisdom of a financial wizard, ideally with past or present accounting designation, you will provide financial oversite ensuring the organization’s financial health.
• Review financial statements, budgets, and cash flow to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
• Prepare, or oversee the preparation of the Society’s financial statements to support internal decision-making and fulfill external reporting obligations.
• Keep accounting records in respect of the Society’s financial transactions.
Requirements and Commitments:
• VSC (Vulnerable Sector Check)
• Attend 8-10 board meetings per year (virtual and in person)
• Participate in strategic planning and training sessions
• Participate in committee work
• Time commitment is approximately 2-5 hours per month
